Everybody is jumping on the political correctness bandwagon. I am of course referring to the recent Brand telephone scandal. It was a bit of a silly thing that happened ....but even the most professional are entitled to a social blunder now and again. For God's sake, we're human. As the doctor in Father of the Bride 2 says " do you know how many moments of insanity I've delivered in the past 10 years".
The truth is, from moments of insanity, we get snapshot glimpses into people's souls- and that's a marvellous thing. I'm not talking about phsycially disturbing acts ie murder etc...rather an impish comment such as Ross made in context of the situation. He wanted to be bold and he got a bit carried away in the heat of the moment- just as parents do when they conceive their children!
I don't know how many times I've come out with something completely random and unconnected to a conversation when I'm letting my stream of consciousness flow. These are little bits of you stirring in your protected inner personality drawer. Usually only appropriate things are taken out of this drawer, while the other 'socially unacceptable' contents lie there dormant until we lose our inhibitions, throw caution to the wind and scatter their fragmements among colleagues and associates alike.
But with this new and ever rising PC fad (and it is a fad just like any other media imposed propagandous hype) I worry that the fear mongering tactics will beat people down farther into this downward spiral of not being authentic and individual. 'To thine own self be true' clearly means nothing in the face of media bully tactics.
